Our Mission & Vision

Our vision is a society fully equipped with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and ready for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and eternal life.

Our mission is to glorify God, transform lives, reach and help people experience Jesus Christ, grow in Christ and impact the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is guided by Great Commandment and Great Commission.

Great Commandment & Commission

Jesus said unto him, “thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, this is the first and greatest commandment and the second is like it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself 40 and these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets”. (Matthew 22:37-40)

Jesus said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen”. (Matthew 28:19-20)

To “love God with all your heart” is worship, To “love your neighbor as yourself” is ministry, To “Go … make disciples” is evangelism, To “teach them…all things” is discipleship.

Our Core Values

The Core Values of Evangelical Mission of Africa describe the kind of people we want to be as we engage in our mission to glorify God, transform lives and impact the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ. These values serve as the foundation of our ministry and hopefully capture God’s thematic purposes found in Scripture.

Kingdom Theology and Practice

Evangelical Mission of Africa is committed to the theology and practice of the Kingdom of God, rooted in the vision of the Hebrew prophets and fulfilled in the life and Ministry of Jesus of Nazareth; we have been commissioned to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom bearing witness to the already and not yet of the kingdom in words and deeds

Truth

Evangelical Mission of Africa is about Jesus Christ. We must focus our eyes on the true Jesus, as one who holds all things together (Col 1:17). Jesus is truth (Jn 14:6, Jn 16:13). He is revealed in the truth of Scripture (Jn 17:17) and we seek to glorify Him in truth (Ps 51:6)

Worship

We all worship something. Your time, energy, creativity, money, and resources go to something that you consider ultimate. The Cross frees us to focus our passions for the One, True and Ultimate: The gospel of Jesus Christ. We seek to be living sacrifices, offering our entire beings to God as an act of worship (Rom 12:1).

Authentic Community

Transformation happens in authentic, gritty, raw community (Pr 27:17). When we invite people to church, we aren’t just inviting them to a building; we’re inviting them into our lives. We meet in each others’ homes and celebrate life with good food, good laughs, and fellowship. A community of transformation has depth, which we achieve by building one another up in love and good deeds (Heb 10:24). We pray together, struggle together, and encounter life’s messes together. By sharing God’s grace, love, and truth with one another, the Gospel is spread and transformation occurs.

Making Disciples

For spiritual transformation to occur, we must continually sharpen one another (Prov. 27.17). We all need to be confronted with, challenged by, and trained in the Word. We need to remind one another how God calls us to love our spouses and our families (Eph 5:22-33, 6:4), lead our church (1 Tim 3), teach others (2 Tim 2:2), fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim 6:12), and build a counter-culture within our city (Rom 12:1-2).

Everyday Missionaries

Followers of Jesus are to live intentionally (2 Cor 5:18). Knowing that God put us where we are for His purpose (Acts 17:26), we proclaim the Gospel (Rom 10:14-15) and live it out being purposeful in everything we do. We seek to do everything – hobbies, work, dinner, marriage, music – for the glory of God; acting in His love towards the people He’s placed around us.

Living Generously

We are called to transform our city (Jer 29:7), not by railing against it from the outside, but by loving it from the inside. We are commanded to care for orphans (and the poor), widows (and single moms), the homeless, the fatherless, and the oppressed (Jas 1:27) – as Jesus did (Luke 4:18-19).

Reconciling Communities

Jesus is reconciling human to God, to each other and to the entire creation, breaking down the division as a result of Race, Social status, Jews and Gentile, Slave and Free, male and female; we are committed to becoming healing communities engaged in the work of reconciliation

Experiencing God

The triune God (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit) – is eager to be known and experienced by all; we value the passionate pursuit of Gods presence in order to respond in obedience to His initiatives

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”. 1 Thess. 5: 23”

What we believe

What We Believe About

GOD

WE BELIEVE in one true God, infinite personal perfect and eternally existing as in three distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Each in the Trinity is fully and equally God; possesses all of the divine nature and attributes, and is totally worthy of our worship and service (Deut. 6:4;Matt. 28:19; John 1:14, John 10:30; 2 Cor. 13:14).

THE BIBLE

WE BELIEVE the full inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, their authority, sufficiency, infallible and inerrancy as the Word of God; the reliability of the New Testament in its testimony to the character and authority of the Old Testament; and the need of the teaching of the Holy Spirit for the true and spiritual understanding of the whole. God has supernaturally preserved the Bible, and it is the sole and final authority for faith and life, providing encouragement, guidance, comfort and instruction for training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21,2 Timothy 3: 16, Matthew 5: 17 & 19,John 16: 13).

SALVATION

WE BELIEVE that the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for forgiveness of sins and salvation, which is the free gift of God’s grace. Salvation is only appropriated by a person placing his faith in the finished work of Christ. Repentance is a turning toward God and away from sin and is a part of but not separate from believing faith. Those who receive Jesus Christ by faith are born again, have their sins forgiven, become children of God, are a new creation in Christ being kept by the power of God. No human merit contributes to man’s salvation.(Eph. 1:7:13-14; John 1:12-13, John 3:1-7, John 14-16; 2 Cor. 5:17; Rom. 1:16, Rom. 10:9-10; Eph. 2:8-10; Rom. 8:14-17, Rom. 31-39;John 10:27-29, Rom. 14:6; Acts 26:20; 1 Pet. 1:3-5).

CHURCH

WE BELIEVE that the church is the body of Christ of which Jesus is the Head, embracing all the redeemed called by God through the Gospel, born of the Spirit, and justified by faith. The local church, comprising such believers as the visible and tangible expression of the universal church; and fellowship between such churches manifesting in the unity of the body of Christ. The leadership of each local church is committed by God to men, called of God, Biblically qualified and filled with the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the church is to make Christ known to lost men and to make disciples, and glorify God on earth ( Hebrews 12: 22-23,Romans 16: 4-5, Acts 15: 2-3, Acts 15: 30-31, 1 Timothy 2 & 3, Titus 2, Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 12:12-27; Eph. 1:20-23, Eph. 4:1-6, Eph. 4:12-16; Matt. 28:18-20; John 17; Col. 1:24-29).

CHRIST

WE BELIEVE the true and proper Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His Virgin Birth, His real and perfect Manhood, the authority of His teaching, and the infallibility of His utterances, His work of atonement for sinners of mankind by His vicarious sufferings and death, His bodily resurrection, and His ascension into heaven and His present priestly intercession for His people at the right hand of the Father( 1 Timothy 3: 16,John 1: 1, Luke 1: 27, Luke 1: 31-35, Acts 2: 22, 2 Corinthians 5: 21, Matthew 24: 25, Luke 24: 39,Mark 16: 19).

HOLY SPIRIT

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is a divine person and works in the conviction of men and in the regeneration, conversion sanctification and preservation of the believers, also in service and worship( John 3: 3-5, Ephesians 2: 8-10).

RESURRECTION

WE BELIEVE the resurrection of the body and the judgment of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, with the eternal blessedness of the righteous and the eternal punishment of the wicked (Luke 14: 14, Matthew 25: 31-33, Matthew 25: 46).

CHRISTIAN LIVING

WE BELIEVE that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself or herself and should, by the power of the indwelling Spirit, allow Christ to manifest His life through him to God’s glory. By ever increasing obedience to the Word of God, each believer should mature and progressively become more like Jesus. In the power of the Spirit, each believer should live a holy life; not fulfill the lusts of the flesh; exercise his spiritual gifts to build up the body of Christ; witness for Christ; be personally involved in making disciples to fulfill the great commission; perform good works and bear fruit to the glory of God (Gal. 2:20; 1 Pet. 1:15-16, 1 Pet. 2:11; 2 Cor. 5:14-15; Rom. 6:11-13; Eph. 2:10, Eph. 4:11-12, Eph. 4:22-24; 1 Pet. 4:10-11; Acts 1:8; Matt. 28:18-20;Col. 1:10; John 15:8, 16).

GIVING

WE BELIEVE that giving is a service to God. The Lord God blesses us in all our work and in everything we put our hands on when we give generously to Him. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son to die for our sin. Giving to the poor and vulnerable is commended. The Lord opens the window of even and pour blessing when with tithe (Deuteronomy 15: 10 & 16:17, 1 Chronicles 29: 9, Proverbs 21:26, 22:9 & 28: 27, Malachi 3:10, Luke 6: 38, John 3.16, 2 Corinthians 9: 6-8)
